This kind of concerns me because most people in this thread are getting the 160 range.

Does anyone have any ideas why my speed is 20mph lower than the average? I do not go fast often, but I'd like to know that everything was healthy with the bike.
Mine does about 200kph (125mph) at 10k.
The 160mph is up near redline, Not sure why yours wouldn't go any faster, Way to many variables to tell why though.

As a side note, if you do go at the speed of light and you turn on the headlights...what happens?

As far as gps, do they still have the 30 yard limitation for civilian use? How accurate are they really for speed estimates? What's the margin?

The only speeds I believe are a measured mile and a stop-watch, everything else is fantasy, in my book.

I don't think so. Some of my friends use GPS devices for geocaching and as long as the person put the right coordinates on the site, the GPS will put them pretty well right on top of the cache (within a foot or so.)

ive hit 145 a few times, not really planned just had an open no-traffic freeway. It comes up really quick. Im still determined to do 200mph on either a car or bike. Just need the right vehicle.
On a side note, after 7 years I finally topped out my rsx; 155mph

Hmm, I'll try it again and take better note of exactly what the RPMs are. I got a bit of high speed death wobble and backed off pretty quickly earlier so I was just glimpsing at the speedo and tach. I could have made a mistake.

+1. On trips my Garmin GPS matches the car speedo within 2mph always. I think the box says 10 feet radius or something similar to where you actually are. Satellites have improved a lot in the past 5 years apparently.

161 indicated. 151 actual. Pretty slow to me. My cars actually top out higher than my bike.

Thats the things with bikes, yes they are light but overall dont have much raw HP..so once speeds get about ~140mph it becomes a horsepower war, weight becomes much less significant due to exponential wind resistance.
For example a ninja 250 will beat my car in a 1/4 but it only tops out 110mph

I got my 02 F4i to 165 on 5th Gear. Of course I was @ red line but if I had more open road, i think i woulda easily hit 170 on 6th. I was riding with a 05 Zx10r and we both had the same exact reading. Of course the Zx10r smoked me after like 4th gear. oh BTW, I have stock gears/sprokets with 520 conversion, a slip on 2 bros carbon fiber can and K/N filter.

Hmm interesting. Next time I get a chance I'll try to redline 4th, 5th, and then hopefully 6th and see if I can get into the 160s.

On a side note: the terminal velocity of a human is 124mph if I remember right. I'm pretty sure hitting a wall head on at 160mph on a bike would be a greater impact than falling out of an airplane.

Yeah, its not the safest thing to do. TBH, I probably will never push my F4i again to the limits. @ 165 everything starts to push down on u. Its one of the weirdest feeling as a biker, ESPECIALLY on a public road.
