F4i Top Speed
#53
I was just checking this thread yesterday, and then I saw this ad on craigslist today, so I had to post it.

I mean, his F4i can do 200mph, and all he did was a full exhaust, power commander, port and polish with 'alloy' valves, and a clutch.
Heck, I bet if he waxed it, it'd go 210. And if he polished the frame, swingarm and wheels, he'd break the sound barrier...

I think I should offer him a price in the same proportion to his asking price as the bike's actual top speed is to his claim.
Or, maybe he'll sell the bike without all his mods. Lets see, asking price minus the price of the mods is -$1490. Sounds like a deal!

Since he's asking for a trade for a bass boat and uses it mainly as a commuter, I'm betting he's 40 years old and has never taken the bike over 70 mph. Atleast he's putting the blame on the damage to the bike on someone else, smart there.

I know this is borderline necrophilia, and I apologize in advance. I figured better to dig up an old thread than start a new on about the same topic.
Anyway, today was the first really pretty day I have had in my area for awhile, and I got a chance to try to stretch the F4i out on an open section of road.
I tried twice, and got up to the low 140 range both times. I was in 6th gear sitting at 10K RPMs. I couldn't seem to get it to rev higher than that. Once was slightly down hill.
This kind of concerns me because most people in this thread are getting the 160 range.
The bike is sitting at around 11500 miles and has 16/46 gearing, which I believe is stock. Fresh oil and antifreeze. It is due for spark plugs and an air filter in the next 1000 miles, but it runs too good to have major issues in those two categories. The only performance mod is a slip on. The tires are the stock size I believe as well.
I weigh about 155 with gear on. I was doing a 3/4th tuck when I was doing the runs. My windshield is tinted very dark, and doing a full tuck wouldn't be safe.
Does anyone have any ideas why my speed is 20mph lower than the average? I do not go fast often, but I'd like to know that everything was healthy with the bike.
