Ok guys. I took the sucker out. But damn it gave me a hard time! I'm happy b/c I was able to get the frame slider bracket that did the damage out for it was bent and stuck there. Anyway, when I removed the head, I see coolant in these holes (check the pic). Is that okay or should I worry? I hope I did it right.
those big holes are the top of your cylinders and the tops of your pistons :P neat huh? Suck all that crap out with a shop vac and replace it when it you get it back together with *new* gaskets. Mind your torque specs too. EXTREMELY important. You know my number if you need help with that. I'd hate to see you have to do it twice cuz you blew a new gasket due to mis torque :P

yea good to know the whole motor doesnt have to come out. for sure stick some towels down in the cylinders so nothing gets into the block if you arent finishing the job tonight.

Anyway, I got the parts swapped out now, and I'm calling it a day, b/c I'm going out tonight. Damn, I look at the scene and putting it all back together will sure be interesting if not frustrating. The gasket off my bike looks good, so I think of reusing it. Also, I will keep the camshafts, b/c the ones I got with the head in the mail had some slight damage to them. Is there anything else I need to know before I start putting it all back together? I appreciate your time, guys. Please stay with me until I'm done. I need your brains

DO NOT REUSE CYLINDER HEAD GASKET
you should Never reuse that gasket No matter how good it looks
as you torque down the head it compresses the gasket and the Steal rings allong the
Cylinders(pistons holes).
reusing it well
1. make your torque off spec
2. Cause you to not get a good seal around the cylinder which well lead to a blown head gasket.
This is not coming from a weekend Mechanic this is from 32 years as a mechanic with over 8 ASE certificates.
when you clean the surface for the new Gasket make sure you get it as clean as you can.
make sure you do not gauge the head surface and do not leave any oil residue on the head or motor where they meat.
