the studs on the f4i's manifold are too short for this. i guess im gonna need to take it to a shop.

If you have the manifold out on a table you probably don't need to leave enough space for the wrench to swing freely between the manifold and the nut. If you can thread two nuts on there, that should be all the room you need. You may not even need the box end of the wrench. Just try threading the nuts all the way up and using the open end of the wrench.

thanks. took it to a shop and they did it for $10. these suckers started coming off after i've fitted the nuts on them. i mean, what the hell??

you should download a manuel to help you there is some good free ones out there.but i only know one for the 900rr not the 600 sorry

are the valve clearance and cam positioning the only things I need to check before getting the head bolted down?

check for warpage in at least 8 differant spots with a straightedge on the head and the block

What spots do you have in mind, and whats a straightedge?

Staightedge: Any thing that you can be sure is a true straight edge (a t-square, the metal edge of a wooden rule ect.)

Check across, lengthwise and diagnally. your straightegde should be flush with the surface in every direction.
