thanks man, yeah it was a bit of a tough call with the insurance and just having to accept it'll be next year before i can get it on the road. but its only a few months and it gives me a chance to sort the things i've rushed, still got another bike to run over winter anyway.

just realised i forgot to post a pic of it altogether again. looks better in the flesh to be honest but its close to how i'm wanting it. ideally i'd want to remove the bottom spars of the subframe and brace it but given that i need to retain the ability to carry a passenger i cant really see a way i can retain strength at the required points without the strength that comes from that triangle. i could look at using a 600rr subframe in the future i suppose but it defeats the purpose. the bottom spars look quite good in person i reckon but they don't photograph well for what that matters.

anyway.

front disc centres need painted black
i've got some aluminum to make replace the stainless headlight brackets and save some weight, also paint them black.
the rearsets, i'm toying with speedholes/altering their shape so they're less slabbish and probably painting them black to blend them in.
need to make infill panels for the seat to tank area.

the plastic cdi plug isnt holding a terminal for the signaling spark anymore, ie i need to hold it in place for the bike to run on all 4 cyls annoyingly. need to replace the plug and the only place i can find with stock is cycleterminals over in the states. ive got a spare intact oem loom from a 14k bike but i dont wanna rob it of plugs. its a shame to ruin good parts.

want to shorten the radiator filler cap hoses height just to tidy that area up, it'll still be the highest point of the cooling system to aid in bleeding air out.

stick coils are sitting to be wired up but i think i'm saving this for when i shorten loom right down and relocate components under the tank. plan is battery and possible fuse box too hidden in the tail and the rest on an aluminum tray/box under the tank.

need to get some tyres for my daft gs build so i can get the borrowed 160 tyre back on the cbr rather than it's current 180.

regarding lithium batteries and charging systems... my bike charges too well for the lithium battery. i'm getting 15.1V when testing at whatever the rpm range is again and the battery can only take up to 14.9v, however if i run the bike with lights on all the time which i do anyway it brings the voltage down low enough to be safe on the battery. should ideally replace the R/R with one that's more suited for lithium but i'm not concerned just need to remember to run with the lights on and keep an eye on voltage.

just a few nothing jobs to do really. wiring being the worst of it and ive got the aluminum swingarm sitting to chop up and make fit but there's no rush to do that,

Nice... I think the subframe looks good like that. Like a trellis.

Looks great, amazing that you have managed to tuck everything out of sight, what a result.

Its funny you say that man, some days i love the subframe and others i hate, its no secret how indecisive i am. Id quite like to add some trellis styling to it but it'd be added weight for purely cosmetic reasons. In person it looks sweet but it seems to photograph weird. I think im mentally scarred by seeing pics where it looks odd but... Its not odd in reality. I dunno, brains are stupid slabs of meat.

Gonna get the gap under the seat filled with a panel and probably leave it at that. Just wanna get some miles on it now

Thanks man. Lots of the little details to sort yet and some small issues but i'm pretty happy with how its come together.

Quite looking forward to tidying up the electrics properly rather than just stuffing it all in. It works but should i need to sort something at the side of the road its going to be a headache.

Been a bit occupied but reworking the loom, reintegrating the fuel pump, shortened the radiator cap hose. Couple of wee things to do yet but its good to go this spring.

I'll get a couple of pics up when im on a laptop, cant seem to get the image coding via android.

finally catching up with this wee update.

reamed out the slots in the brake/gear levers. was going to lighten the rearsets a bit too but didnt want to risk introducing flex and painted them black. i'll powdercoat them over next winter.

tidied the wiring up a bunch, rerouted it to the right side of the frame, shortened some stuff, removed some oft he additional connecters i'd added and hardwired bits to help slim it down.
charging system seems to be in a decent range with the headlight on but it'll marginally overcharge without the added load from the light so i'll need to look at a suitable mosfet lithium R/R for safety reasons.

discs painted black which really tidies up the front. took it for its mot, discovered that the ram air scoop fouls the mudguard when heavy braking and that the rear disc is just no use... the pads almost fall into the waves so it eats pads and hasnt got full pad coverage. passed without hiccup though. the exhaust is... ridiculously loud given that the sc project rep is 2.5" bore and very short. as much as i enjoy loud i dont care for whats basically open header.

also i've mismatched master / rear brake caliper. the brembo masters bore matches that of the f3 however i've possibly used an f2 caliper which has a different master size. cant recall the specs off the top of my head but it's causing the rear brake to feel wooden in pedal feel. it works but you gotta stamp on it and you cant tell what its doing till it locks. i'll swap my other caliper on when i get a chance.

check out the state of the rear disc, you can see what it was doing in the heat marks

hadn't anticipated doing this but needed clearance for the mudguard. as per hrc manual i've given it a 60mm chop and gutted its internal splitter. id rather the additional scoop but at least i can use a headstock stand now and it wont hit the mudguard

i'm not certain if this mod yields any feasible performance gain but i doubt that even with the full hrc setup it's to compliment it. it'll most likely be for headstock stand usage on the race bikes. i'd actually planned on creating a larger scoop but thats out the window for now.

so, shortened a spare carbon oval can, not loving it but it sounds far better and runs better. it was so peaky on the the crproject rep as it hadnt been tuned yet, mid was a bit subdued and 1/2 - 4/4 throttle was like hitting vtec. much broader powerband now.

standard rear disc fitted too and it's much better, still to swap caliper though.

forgot how much fun these bikes are, the upright bars make it so much more lively too. the current gearing is either 13 or 14t / 45t ( -1 or -2 front / + 2t rear ) and it's bloody nippy, wants to ping me off the back of the bike. suspensions a bit of an issue though, very unbalanced and probably why it tries to punt me off the back, had a quick look at setting up rider sag and with me at 73kg, the rear shock set to full preload i'm getting about 55mm rider sag which is just too much, as a temporary measure i've set front sag in the mid 30s but i think my rear 14000 mile shock is knackered because i'm not particularly heavy, i'ved pulled so much weight off the bike and thats so much sag. it's fun but... suspension setup more often than not neglected and it can transform a bike from usable to epic.

i'll fire my spare shock on and hope its better... if not then crap. i'll need to look for something that bolts on and doesn't increase ride height.

bikes got such a clean silhouette, it's finally on the road after 8 years of getting sidetracked and i can potter away with tweaks and treat it as a rolling project now.

found this in my box of spares... gold dust! total unobtanium goodness. came from a crashed f3 and nl3 is an hrc code. i've not installed because i cant really make use of its raised 14.5k redline and it's ign map wont be optimized for my setup. could be an excuse to look at doing an f4/f4i intake cam, switching my intake to the exhaust, slotting my cam sprockets and setting it up. not sure if i'd need to upgrade valves/springs too. trying to source the hrc manual so i can maybe piece something a bit special together. puts me in an interesting situation though, longterm plan was to build a clean cbr69 with the 918 engine but i could build a bigbore screamer 6 instead. maybe i should build another f2/f3
