build time! P=
no time to get near the bike but bashed out a (roughly to scale) concept drawing for the rr7 tail, just messing but it seems like the subframe is going to have to get hiked right up to support it.
been really busy and haven't been able to touch the bike in months until tonight and it is with so much pleasure i can announce i once again have spark!

^ video right thar' because I'm just that excited right now.
torn far too much hair out chasing gremlins, can't believe I've come out the other side.

turned out to be that black wire in the middle, i think theres a break in it about 1cm up from the crimp, when bent it doesn't allow the bike's cdi to send spark to the coils spark. so that will be an easy fix. damn gremlins! ignore the sketchy temp wiring to the bottom of the pic haha
so... i managed to lose the instructions for the speedo about 2 months ago and I've only just managed to get another set online. thank god for that!

been running the new toy
a very very tidy (not quite slingshot / water-cooled) gsxr1100 WP. heavy, old school and generally a terrifying bike to put through the corners. need to get it off the road before they start gritting here. shouldn't be far off now.
also purchased a 07' 600rr tail, that turned out to be a 06' because yeah eBay sellers are great aren't they. bought a seat and cowl for the 07' and well yeah the seat is probably going to be usable but the cowl isn't. wasted time and resources once again.

just leaving that here for future reference.

Oh I could go on and on all day about chasing broken wires and bad connections, my bike's electrics were practicqlly made of those when I started. Been wiggling and taking apart the harness for more nights that I can remember...
Say, that wiring diagram looks an awful lot like Koso... sincerely hoping you have better luck with yours than I had with mine...

Btw a little tip for the gauge wiring. Now it did say in my wiring diagram that the gauge needs good ground but I did not realize a GOOD ground meant a DEDICATED ground wire STRAIGHT to the battery with NOTHING else in it before I could get it to work properly.........and shortly after fail completely... but that's another story...

i bet you could
its just one of those things though isn't it and thats the 2nd time I've had a break in continuity that a multimeter didn't pick up on (because it wasn't being bent the right way) the 1st being why i took on a full rewire in the first place haha and yeah well spotted its a Koso, db01r plus, thanks for the heads up and i think i encountered the same issue with ground when i wired it up to the old loom pre rebuild, i ran it straight to the frame rather than battery though, don't see why it made any difference though. other than being a bit laggy much like every digi speedo its an alright enough unit i reckon.
i did have one **** up with it though, it seems to give me an error on startup and im not sure why but the neutral light is permanently stuck on at the moment, even when disconnected from the circuit, so i'll have to pull it apart and see what the deal is.
spent a bit of time getting set in about the loom tonight, just insulating with spiral wrap and routing really. quite time consuming and not nice when you've got fractured vertebrae when winter is setting in haha

can't remember if ive shown the new fusebox yet, not a huge fan of the connectors coming out 3 at each side as its untidy now that it's wired up, might end up using flag terminals instead of spades just to tidy it some more. anyway it has red leds that light up when a fuse is blown... thought that would be a handy as hell feature.

connectors for the speedo, should get away with clearance on the airbox, if not i will just have to get creative. its likely that the airbox will be getting removed when i fit the 38mm carbs anyway, kind of a shame to see the ram air go but just going to have to wait and see what happens.
all going well i'll get to putter on her tomorrow night as well, aiming to get it all wired up minus having the lights fitted for the end of the weekend.
//
amended the seat cowl scenario, turns out its just a bit of a awkward fit and that the tail is an 07 after all... suppose i should of paid more attention before haha guess I'm just far too used to everything being wrog when bought online. but yeah brake light is on its way as is a new front brake lever pivot bolt and a front brake light switch.

the wiring continues, still tidying and consolidating. certainly taking shape, theres a couple of things yet to address, mainly a couple of bits to shorten and i want to redo the main ground wire as I'm not happy with the way i did it, too many potential weak spots but thats to be explained later. it's certainly a fair bit shorter than the original loom thats for sure.

test fitted the rr7 tail, much nicer unit than the r1 i reckon. theres a bit of an odd space under the seat, should be able to raise the subframe to get rid of some of the gap and its going to leave a bit of room for stashing electrics up and out of sight which is good. also going to get everything as short as possible without brutally hacking the tail and seat up too much.

hadn't expected such a large gap either side of the seat/tank leaving the subframe protruding, not a big deal, not even unsightly, just hadn't foreseen it.

now for the bad, spotted some fuel seeping from under the yellow tank, looks like a hole has rusted through and been repaired with epoxy or glue... baaaaalls. well its either rusted through or been dropped on the petcock as it looks a little cracked (more so in person) going to have to do something about that but in the meantime at least i haven't sold the old black and grey tank.

you can see the bubble forming here with the epoxy or glue holding the fluid in.
//
listed my remaining big expenses and it's not going to be nice on the wallet.
the 2 things i actually need to do at the moment are back tyre & front mudguard.
road pilot 4, possibly going 170 as i know the f3 rim is good for it and i could repair the old one i really fancy a carbon mudguard...
theres also still 3 pistons i need seals for on the front callipers due the shop *bLEEp* up.
//
things that i ''need'' for the build but aren't really required for the time being.
mt03 headlight... it works far too well with what I'm going for.
danmoto xg1 exhaust, really interested to see what kind of quality these are because the price is certainly right. and hell if i don't like it on the f3 then i can use it on something else.
fatbars, clamps & braided lines.
//
its going to be rad when its all done but damn i dread to think just how much I've spent on her so far, it really does sneak up on you little by little.
I've been really pleased with the quality of my Danmoto Jisu can, in fact the only bad thing I have to say about it is they could have deburred the strap as it is delivered unbent and most propably pressed not lasercut which makes the edges so sharp you could perform a surgical operation with it if in a pinch.
You could always either have the mudguard hydrodipped or if you have a vat deep enough to completely submerge it without hitting the walls or bottom you could have a go at it yourself, they sell kits that comes with all the needed chemicals.

the danmoto cans seem to get loads of good reviews and yours is also noted. jisu is one of the carbon ones is it not. i saw a video of one on a hornet if i mind right and it looked like it was blowing from the front end where the cap connects to the link pipe, you could see condensation escape there. ill have to see if i can find the video.
^^ thar you go, wasn't the jisu though.
kind of tied between the xg1 and the extreme gp at the moment, the xg1 seems to have a really long link though and looks odd on some bikes.
quite interested in the hydrodipping though, got a friend of a friend who has recently started a business up. not a fan of faux carbon if I'm honest, its got to be the real deal
its my intent to shave a somewhat significant amount of weight from the bike as well so anything made of carbon aids in that. its just a shame that carbon monoque subframes don't really have much lateral strength, something id love to do but if the bike were dropped off its stand it would almost definitely crack.
