O have an f2 but with my tail light I bent a flat piece of aluminum from Lowe's, drilled two holes so the tail light studs went through it. Then attached it the the inner side of the tail. It actually passes through the subframe where I bent it up and then into the tail. Hope that makes sense

Dennis laid out his tail mounting process in detail in post #48 of this thread. I stole a lot of his ideas, but I didn't re-angle the subframe and did the mounting of the rear part of the tail a little bit differently. I let the subframe ends poke out under the tail, will mount turn signals and side reflectors on the exposed parts. And I am mounting a license plate frame with a couple of pieces of aluminum angle between the ends of the subframe right under the tail light. I think that will block off any view of the underside of the seat.

Reaper,

Go to this page and scroll down. The links are there to the tail light mounts.

I made a bracket that ties to the subframe and back to the tail light. There are two mounting bolts on the tail light that line up with the bracket.

Hey Doc,

That VHT Nu-Cast comes in 3 different shades. Did you use the darkest one?

Getting a little closer to finishing the paint for the RR Conversion bike. Painted a bunch of parts over the weekend and finished the front fairing. I am using OEM fairings and painting them in the Playboy Moto GP theme. It is a really complicated paint job, but I like how it's turning out. I should have all the parts ready in the next couple of weeks. The frame is out at the welder's getting the back welded and some weld repair on some spots where PO ground down the welds to make a Street Fighter...

Here is the front fairing.

I'm hoping to start assembling the bike soon. It's taken so long...but should be worth it.

Wow, that's gorgeous. Your taping skills are mad. Good to see you making such great progress! You will keep me motivated. I've been working a bit here and there, moving forward slowly. The vinyl wrapping continues to be a challenge, completed the lowers last night. Taking a week off next week and hope to make a lot of progress then.

I used the VHT nu cast iron engine enamel on the cases. I wasn't aware there were three colors, I just saw the iron and the aluminum, of which the iron is quite a bit darker.

Good luck on those welds. Getting the frame done so I could start putting things back together was a really inspiring step in the project for me.

Do you have a mounting scheme for that RR front fender worked out? I am planning to use the original for now, but I have an RR fender too. Haven't had any moments of brilliance about attaching it yet. I may just cut some vents in the original to open up the awkward looking front skirt.

Thanks for the positive comments. The paint has been a real challenge to get it to look right. The 03-04 Playboy replica is much different than the actual race bike. There are a lot of aftermarket fairings out there, but all the reviews say they are really bad...thin plastic, poor fits. So I decided to try and replicate the look on the OEM fairings. I have changed it a bit, putting the gold on the front (actual fairings have yellow there). I thought the gold would look better.

I have four bikes. The frame was from a basket case bike. It's one that I have a title for so decided it was worth fixing it. It turned out good so am prepping it for paint. My plan is to take the original bike that I fitted the fairings to and transfer all the parts from it to this frame (no title for the original bike). The other two bikes will be put together as original Hurricanes.

The RR front fender is modified to fit. In my thread I cut back the Hurricane fender, but I never really liked it. I want the bike to look like the RR. If you look at the pictures, I cut out all the plastic that goes around the forks. That was what kept it from fitting. I will fab some aluminum brackets to mount it.

Keep plugging on yours. We will get these bikes on the road...and they will be special.
