Miles per Gallon?
I just got back from a ride and I fueled up before I left and when I got back. I rode 154.3 miles. Now granted, I only broke 100mph a couple of times for short periods. I rode twisties at a fairly good pace for the most part and then had some time on the interstate getting to and from. When I filled up after the ride, it took 3.822 gallons. That works out to a little over 40 MPG.
I think you must be right. You thought you filled up, but forgot to. That would explain it. Otherwise, you'd be smelling the fuel leaking out.
Glad you figured it out.

Bike is fine and I always make a habit of filling tank after every ride even if its a quick ride around town I refuel. Its a habit I got into after running out of fuel once while toying with a guy in a Mustang. It was back in 1989 and I was driving GXR 1100 different bike but same Idea you going to play make sure you have the fuel. What I must have done with the CBR 1000 is thouht I refuelled when in fact I hadn't.Thanks Old Fat Guy....

This way, there is never any ambiguity and I always have a pretty good idea about how much gas is left in the tank.
Try it...its a pretty good system.
i do the same. last tank i got 155 miles on 3.8 gallons. about 100 miles of that i was at/over 100mph on the highway. that's right at 40mpg.

Here's something I do religiously every time I fuel. I reset the trip reading.

this is also something i have been wondering.... there are times when i can get a 155 miles to a tank...then there are others like the other day when my light came on at 92 miles... I fill it up to the top everytime.... dont understand why the length of the fuel is so unpredicatble.
