Default Miles Per gallon?

Ok, so i dont have an owners manual, but i picked up a repair one and couldnt find my Miles to the gallon, I thought my tank held about 5 gallons, but when i fill it up, the reserve comes on at about 75 mileswhich doesnt sound right at all.I dont know much about this bike yet... when the reserve bars come on, does that mean its on the reserve tank, or does that mean there is that much till the reserve? because the bars start blinking. anyway, any help is much appreciated as usual. thanks.

You should have just under 5 gallons for a full tank. When the reserve light pops up, you are in the reserve tank, and you have just under a gallon left.

^^^+1 although svgrider you should be getting a lot more than 75 miles before you get to your reserve.

I got 150 before something went wrong and now I get only 115
svgrider, It could depend a lot on how you fill up or if your reserve indicator is faulty. So I'd say when the reserve bars pop up, go to the nearest pump and fill up 1 gallon. And reset the trip meter. That way you'll know almost exactly how much mpg you get. Even in city it should be upwards of 40mpg unless you ride at the redline.

It's definitely how you drive the bike that will affect your MPG

But the tank holds 4.8 gallons

When all four reserve bars start to flash, you have started using your reserve. Think of the reserve indicator as a count down to your reserve.

i usually fill up at 150 miles and my reserve doesnt even come on. i just fill up as a precaution. one time i went to the reserve and it kicked on at 170 miles. but i drive in 6th gear alot, and most of my driving is highway, so that helps the MPG
