Work, flat out for 8 months, 24/7.

I've spent the last two weeks hiding under a rock. Just thinking about crawling out but it's so bright out there, and snowing like ****.

I've been tuning in here when ever I can for about 5 seconds at a time but had no time to join in the action. Like I said, dull, boring, very tiring.

Anyway, good to be back. I've lots to tell after clocking up about 15K miles since I last wrote anything of consequence. The bike's been a diamond and completely reliable every day.
It's now sitting outside my new house covered in snow. I can't put it in the garage as it's got a fuel leak and stinks. I'll get round to sorting it out at some point soon but in the mean time, where have all my socks gone?

Catch you soon. Hope SA is warmer than it is here.

Default Dog Link Bushing...... a real pain in the neck

Had to drill the rubber out of it all the way around and drive the center sleeve
out ! Then with a hack saw very carefully cut a channel in the outer thin sleeve.
Then with a fairly heavy duty pointed punch very carefully go about collapsing
the sleeve inward so it comes out while trying not to score the alum' so the
replacement can be driven back in without binding. Very easy to screw up
that alum leg if you get all impatient and start hammering on it ! very soft.

After that pulled off the clutch slave ..... YEP ....seal was totally gone , big
pool of fluid sitting in the clutch slave housing in the sprocket cover.

Busy 2 1/2 hours I tell ya, that bushing was a dooooozy

Edit : today 12/3/2010 ....bushing and clutch slave showed up
Bushing pressed right back in easy on a bench vice using a
same diameter socket to flush it up to the dog link.

A Little WD40 helped too

Sprock, that sounds like a real pain in the *** job. Nice description. A logical approach. Glad the new one went in easy.
Just remind me, what was it that led you to think it was knackered in the first place? I should perhaps check mine.
I'm changing my front wheel bearings today. Taking the fairings off and having a general check under the skin. It's been a while since I took a spanner to her for any reason. Hope there's no nasty surprises. Oh, and I'm going to change the oil and filter for the first time in 10K. Can't say I haven't had my moneys worth out of Mr Motul.

The rear shock was knackered Henry , so I got a "newer" one and in the process of
replacing it I decided to take the links out to clean and inspect, long story short the
bushing that attaches to the lower shock fork had to be replaced ....was torn and
disintegrating.....finishing it up today , prolly flush the radiator and an oil change while
I'm at it. Also working on my clutch problem but still waiting for the Mity - Vac I got
on Ebay for 20 bucks to arrive

I replaced the fork dust seals today. Not a big job by any means and knocked it over in an hour. The after market ones are the exact same NGK ones I got off Fleabay for $29 posted to my door instead of $22 each form Honda here. Link for them below. They come out of the UK.

Well, not today, but last week. With a very short break from below zero F temperatures I finally decided that my riding was done for the season and winterized the bike. Sea Foam in the tank, ran it for ten or twelve minutes to pull the SF into the carbs, pulled the plugs and put a couple squirts of oil in each cylinder, replaced the plugs, hit the kill switch and cranked the engine for a few seconds. Pulled the battery, covered the bike and said goodbye for few months.

Sigh.
