Default Oil, oil filter and coolant change......

Changed my oil, oil filter and coolant today, no real reason other than I needed to be satisfied in my own mind that the fluids were ok.

Lovely looking bike with the plastics on but without, when this bike fell from the ugly tree she must have hit every branch on the way down lol!!!

First time I've taken most of the plastics off, I was amazed at how quick I did it, still got to put them back yet, but I had some cold cans of Fosters a calling me!!

Cheers, Steve

I'm cleaning mine today and putting her away and giving her a break for a while. Her younger sister ( Blackbird ) gets the trip to QLD tmrw to blow some cobwebs out of her. I might slip the dyna beads in the 1000F if I get time. Otherwise that's a job for when I get back.

But the new 87 MRA Screen when I had it dry fitted looked - "IMMENSE" oh yeah

The old sun bleeched golden oem screen looked so crAp it had to go

Next up custom sv 650 riser bars on her - last big deep sea fishing trip Sat

Ok, ok, it DID happen.......................

New (Japanese bearings, not seals ) new brake pads, discs, cleaned everything up, painted the front fender and fit a fender extender.

Nice shiny new paint

Keen eyed observers will not the slight blueing of the stainless disc. 2 points. On the test ride, I did a couple of very high speed stops to 'bed things in' . When I returned I noted the brakes were dragging more than they should, so will have a look at that in my next free (hah!) time. I suspect, because of the condition of the front bearings - the ***** FELL out when I knocked the bearing race from the rim - that the pistons have crudded up from sitting too long, restricting return movement.

Will report back when solved.

Cheers, SB

Indeedy Hawkwind.

I've had the same discs/pads on my Kawasaki GTR1000 for a couple of years and have absolutely no complaints.

At very low speeds they can squeal a bit (metallic pads!) and if you get the bike wet, it proves that the Chinese interpretation of Stainless Steel is not quite the same as ours. Not significant problems by any means. I've probably travelled close to 18,000km with them on the Kawasaki from high speed runs through curvaceous mountain roads around Mount Hotham to long distance tours two up with a hell of a load and they have always performed impeccably.

I paid under $190 AUD for the two front and rear disc directly from the factory in China delivered to my front door- via Ebay on a sale.

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

They fit up well to the bike, and to me are very well made. Much less weight that the original discs, still 4mm minimum thickness - they are 5mm out of the box.

Anything else you'd like to know, just ask.

Cheers, SB
