Default Strange noise

Not been on here for a while, my 93 1000 has taken a bit longer to get on the road. Anywho...the engine is running, but I have a strange rattle coming from the top end. I've had the cover off and checked the valve clearances..all good.
When you ride it from cold the noise disappears after a few k's.
I tired to do a carb balance, but can't find any screws or somewhere to put the vacuum lines. All of the pictures on here have metal top carbs, mine are plastic
Am I missing something

Yeah crank balancer - the routine in the how to section

It helps , my 93 had that clacking noise from the top end

Did a crank balance followed by a carb sync

For #1 use the port where the vacuum petcock line attaches to the head.

For #2 remove the black plastic port cover between #1&2 (same elevation on the head as #1 port). You can pull it off with needle nose pliers.

Go to the other side of the bike.

For #3 same as #2 but between #3&4.

For #4 remove the small phillips head screw on the opposite side of the engine in the area similar to where port for #1 is. This is the only one where you will need to supply your own tube for the vacuum line.

If your noise from the top end goes away after the engine warms up, its most likely the CCT. If you have the cover off, may as well replace it because they go bad about every 25k miles.

I recently adjusted the balancer on mine as i had vibration / buzzing through the handlebars at certain rpms - it has calmed it down quite a bit.

I personally have never had problems with cct's, but have heard before that if it's noisy until warmed up then it is probably could be the cct.
