Default Strange Noise

At about 3500 rpms, my 2005 CBR1000rr with 1400 miles on the clock, produces a slight ticking sound coming from the engine.
It disappears at about 4000 rpms.
Anyone know what this is, should I be worried?

do you have a full system?
My buddy had a 600rr with full exhaust system installed at the dealer... header bolts were coming loose... they need to be retorqued after a few hundred miles or so...

took him forever to figure it out, cause the dealer techs are stupid and lazy.

Good luck.

I think you mean the pinging or knocking you hear as you slowly roll on the throttle. That is a very common thing in our 1000s. If you're in California like me, I hear it is worse since we have stricter emissions and lower octane gas. I heard a good way to fix that is with a Power commander. Richen up the fuel in the low end and I think it will go away. As for the break in, try not to make it ping during the break in. Just roll on the throttle even easier or just stay in lower gear to keep the revs high. Honda engines are incredibly reliable so you shouldn't worry too much about it. Same thing happened to my 1000 and gave me a flashback of when I supercharged my Integra Type R.

The 600's have the same noise. I thought it was strange at first, but then I rode my friends 600RR (identical to mine, though a month newer) and it did the same exact ticking noise. Same goes for another buddies 2005 model. These are just noisy engines. lol. I wouldn't be worried to much about it.

Hope this helps.
