Default Strange noise

When I rev my bike, there is a noise from the engine area that is audiblebetween 3500 and 5000 rpm. I removed thecamchain tensioner and it appeared to be functioning properly. The cam chain is new. What elsecould it be?

it still may be bad. does it sound like a rattle, like bbs in a can. i checked my automatic tensioner and it appeared fine, but mine still rattles, so im switching to a manual tensioner.

Yeah, thats exactly what it sounds like. The guy I bought it from actually switched it from a manual to an automatic. How much does a manual one cost and what are the effects of just leaving it. Riding season is basically done here so its torn down in my garage to fix everything.

Manual tensioner is about $50. http://cbrzone.com/sprockets.html

It is normally not as critical to get fixed, meaning you can ride with it like that for a bit, but it does need to be fixed because it keeps the appropriate tension applied to the cam chain. Worst case scenario, it could screw up the cam chain and really cause havoc in the top end of the motor.
