On a side note... when that rear tire locks up you lose the ability to turn the motorcycle.

Maturity def plays into it but everyone matures at different ages so raising the age requirement for motorcycles is not a good solution. Just have to keep in mind that getting pulled over at speeds over 20 mph the limit the officer could impound your bike and take your liscence. not to mention your insurance would no longer be affordable.

I think of the Guy that hit a kid here a while back. Then i think of my daughter. That's enough for me. I might get in it a little on a straight shot just to wake the bike up but anywhere that there might be something to jump out in the road i keep it legal.
Its amazing what having a kid does to your way of thinking.

I help fight this by accelerating up to speed as fast as possible. This way I really get to lay into the throttle and feel the acceleration, but am not speeding. The only thing is you have to have enough self control to lay off once u reach the speed limit.

At times I just think about my bike dropping. But then there's times where I block out everything & you rip the throttle with no worries. When I get to where I was going then I realize I was going crazy fast & I should take it easy.

im young and stupid probably, but, I try to squeeze it from the highway ramp til I reach top of 2nd gear, shift to 3rd and let go of throwtle. Its actualy hard to hold on lol (got a 929rr).
I do sometimes in the area of a highway I know very well, reach a sweet 120 and then I make sure I think of what IF.

I never cared until I read a post on a website that got to my senses.

Reasons: If wreck and die, I frankly dont care, im single, not kids. so w.e at least I died doing what I enjoy. A ticket? hmmm they rarely chace a bike here in florida, specially one thats already doing over 100mph, so no big deal and it I did get chaced, prob wil get away, no concern. If I went down and survived, I can fix the bike, hey! I would have a project! great.

BUT THEN, i think, if my brother or little sister died, **** I would be able to deal with it. or what TRULY MAKES ME LET GO OF THE THROTTLE, if I did survive, those who I love the most, parents, siblings, etc. would have to spend their lives having to deal with helping ME walk, shower, eat, take medicines, pay for medicines, etc etc cuz ill be unable to do anything my myself and therefore a burden to them.

So think of those you care about that will have to put up with sacrificing their lives taking care of you cuz u were too stupid to let go.

NOTHING PERSONAL (the stupids and bad words)..

also, think, no matter ho good you are, a flat tire could happen at any time!
Remember also, dropping the helmet from the seat is like hitting your head at 20mph, you think I dropped you flat on your head from the height of your seat you wont break your neck? think about 100mph!!!!

in england if we hit triple digits its a instant 2 year ban! that should be the incentive but it still happens, i struggle with keeping my speed down but i put this down to excitement after spending so long on a 125cc, I've been told track days help, sounds like you have some awesome roads there though, my advice would be safe but have fun and keep an eye out!!!

I would like to think of myself as mature... atleast in most areas. ( run my own company, Full time student blah blah blah...) but I too struggle with speeding. never gotten a ticket yet and I have no idea how not. but when you see that open stretch of road that your very familiiar with, no other cars, beautiful day, I tend to test it and open up. and I think Ive almost pushed my f4i fast as it would go... I need to go to a track and get these urges satisfied!
