You dont resist. Unless you see law enforcement. This is why we have the bike. Unless you mean how we resist at a bad/dangerous time to speed. For me i just dont speed, simple as that. "Go slow or die". lol

Funny, that. I have a certain kind of fast and flashy car. I am a member of a forum for that car. This subject comes up rather often. How do you resist the need for speed. Your answer is what I gave them. Why did you buy a car like this if you didn't have driving fast in mind in the first place?? I mean really, a Volkswagen or Prius will get you where you need to go right? Makes no sense to me. Kind of like the guys that pimp out their GIANT diesel P/U then never haul anything OR take it off road! Then they all want to go to the drag strip! Why?? Lol!

So the theory is it's pointless to own a bike if I don't turn it loose? Sorry, I don't buy in.

I bought Yolie cause she's one of the most technologically advanced bikes on the road. Which also makes her one of the safest as well. I'm upgrading because the HP4 with the DDC takes it a step further and will meet my future needs as well.

The s1000rr is also an excellent learning tool. Sure, I can crack the throttle wide open and let the traction control keep the front down. Let it keep the rear from spinning, let the damper keep the wobble from going into a slapper. But I try not to let the nannies do the work for me. I look at them as scoldings for screwing up.

Top Gear:
"Why did you buy a watch that is water resistant, made for scubadivers, and costed a fortune?
You will never go into a water with it anyway!?"
"I Bought it cause I like to know that it is capable of doing that even if it will probably never happen!"

To each his/her own. In the end, it doesn't matter what any of us bought our bikes/cars/airplanes or whatever else for, it's for OUR pleasure. You do what you do and I'll do what I do.

Depending on the song, music makes me want to go faster. That being said I almost always listen to music.

I typically go 10-20km over the speedlimit in my car and on the bike.
most people say I'm mature for my age. I don't like to go light speed, when I start to get into track I can do that then. That being said I do like to push it a touch more in the turns.
I don't know what it is that holds me back, maybe the lack of cash to pay for tickets. insurance here is stupid expensive and any tickets just makes it skyrocket higher than it already is. or it could be that I value my life and others and I know how dangerous riding on the street can be with out the added factor of more speed.

Cheers,
Geoff

it is pretty hard when 65mph is only 1/3 of the way up the speedo.

but then i think to myself, one more ticket and i lose my dream job (almost didnt get it from driving record, boss had to fudge some paperwork lol), and that usually helps.
