The frame is welded! (See? Wishes do come true at Christmas.)

1/2 inch solid aluminum tab welded for 1000rr subframe. And, 954 subframe mounts ground off and filled in.

Holes from front fairing stay filled in.

I shaved off the rear brake reservoir tab (which also left a hole) and the welder filled it in as well.

All in all, it seems like top notch work. I can take better pictures in the daylight, but I couldn't wait. The main thing is that for the first time - my bike's will be structurally built and ready to go. Thats big progress!

Looks like top notch work too... nice one... I love how beefy the front looks and how it tapers to an aggressive but subtle factory look on the tail.

AMAZING JOB! i read all the 31 pages! when the next updates?
i have others questions:
till now from the cbr 1000rr you put on your 954 only the throttle bodies and the airbox? of witch year are the parts of the 1000? the tank fit good on it? the ECU is original of the 954?

Hi Marco. The only updates are that I have the bike together again and am getting ready to order spacers for the front rim and spacers for the rotors. Im also going to be cutting the spacer for the rear rim to finally bring it inline with the bike.

I had that welder grind off the 954 subframe mounts. As a result, the gixxer tank actually sits flush with the frame.

So now, the tank sits on like so

Much better. Also, I've retapped my clevis and reconfigured the slave cylinder to sit under the tank correctly. I have to order the bolt and bushing that I need because no one locally stocks an m8 bolt thats 160mm long. Then the hydraulic clutch conversion will be sorted.

As far as the questions:

I used 08+ 1000rr everything ( TBs, airbox, harness, ECU, etc). You have to modify the head to accept a hall cam sensor. The airbox is too tall for the 954 gas tank to work, so I used a gixxer tank, and its fuel pump because it is configured similarly to the 1000rr as opposed to the 954 pump.

If you wanted to do it relatively easy, use 04 07 1000rr ECU, airbox, TBs. The 954 shares almost all of the sensors as that generation 1000rr. I still doubt the tank would fit however. There was a guy on fireblades.org who ran it on his 929 with the front of his tank propped 10mm or so via bushings.

The basic magnetic cam sensor (2 wire) that the 954 uses is over 2 inches long and the hall sensor (3 wire) that the 08 1000rr uses is much shorter. Most hall sensors are that short, so I think the one I ended up using was off of a Ducati. But I still had to cut about 3/8 of the head off where the sensor mounts to the bike and clean up the thread for the bolts, add a thick o ring to make sure it doesnt leak oil, etc.

Like I say, the 04 1000rr uses the same sensor, so no need to do all of that work.

Don't be sorry, this is a forum. Thats the point of us being here. I believe they are the same length as the 04-07 1000rr, so shorter than the 954`s, IIRC. There are also some differences with the fork leg width, I believe. I never measured with the 954 forks, so I can't say for sure, but I came up with different measurements for my zx14 rims than some other guys who put them on their 04-07 1000rr.

Here's a question for everyone. I'm anchoring the slave cylinder on one of the engine bolts. Its roughly 3 inches. I need the slave cylinder to sit 2.5 inches above that, so I'm trying to source a longer bolt, then I'll use bushings. But, another avenue I'm thinking about is using threaded rod. What I'd do is loctite the rod to the bottom of the engine case, and then use nuts to hold everything in place. I think it'd be safer that way so I wouldn't screw up the engine case. What do you think? Thoughts?

the wheels of the zx14 are the same like the 04-07 cbr 1000rr or you must modify? i know that the rims of the 04-07 cbr 1000rr are interchangeable with the rims of the 954,it's the same also with this? or need the same job like the front wheel of the vtr?
