it was nice to hear from colin edwards. i feel terrible for him as well. i can't imagine being in his shoes.

Motorcycle safety gear brand Teknic revealed that reigning AMA Superbike champion, Josh Hayes, will fill-in for Colin Edwards next weekend in Valencia, Spain. Hayes was originally set to ride the bike on Monday, the day after the MotoGP race as a ‘thank you’ for his efforts in America. But due to Edwards suffering shoulder injuries in the accident that took the life of Marco Simoncelli (RIP Super Sic No. 58) at the Malaysian Grand Prix last weekend Hayes has now been selected to pilot Edward’s Monster Tech 3 Yamaha YZR-M1 in Sunday’s MotoGP finale. This will be the first-time he’s ever ridden a grand prix prototype.

well that is somewhat of a silver lining on a very dark ominous cloud. hayes does deserve to ride a gp bike. its just really really ****ty circumstances

 

I agree, it is. Hopefully he can gain something out of it though if he rides good. Not sure his style of riding will do well, man handle the beast with electronics turned off. Completely different bike than he is normally used to riding. It will be exciting to watch!

Can't knock him though because it has worked for him, to this point at least. See how it works on these machines. Haha

 

This announcement actually a bout a week old. If Hayes can keep the bike upright he may be as best 12th place. Spies is going to be riding to my understanding. Lorenzo is out and will not be racing unless announced otherwise. Colin being out Lorenzo being out and Simoncelli being gone (RIP) puts Hayes in a somewhat better position. Thing is they won't shut the electronics off for him and Hes never ridden a GP bike before and hes never raced in another countries track so he still has alot against him. Back in 2007 Duhamel and Roger Hayden raced at Laguna. Duhamel was a DNF and Hayden did. Then this year Ex world champion Bostrom did the same did not finish. These bikes are totally different worlds then the there domesticated offspring let alone getting used to Bridgestone slicks of many flavors. As far as Hayes getting a stepping stone to GP ?? I doubt it highly and thats just because he doesn't give GP a huge future..... hes 37 years old and will be 38 by the time next season starts.
