i figured that's what hopper was going to be doing, but i'm glad to see it confirmed. its great that i'll get to watch him on speed again. i bet he'll do real well in WSBK.
with the analogies in the article, it does bring up REALLY good points. and also, think about how unfair it is to some of the prospective riders that are coming up in sportbike having to go against the funding and riding of a geico sponsored martin cardenas team. it lets the prospective riders be that - prospective riders, and prove themselves in the lower classes where, because no big sponsors would be there, it would be more about the rider (than funding) anyways.
Ok... I don't think it read that Martin had nothing to prove but Rather Danny had nothing to prove. Danny will be riding. He is got something in the works and he won't spill it...... yet. My thoughts he'll ride the Team Hammer, Ulrich,Geico sponsored Superbike that was not sponsored by Geico last year that Martin will not be riding anylonger. Richie Morris will be racing in the HD class and hes putting something together for Sportbike..... hes not spilling his guts yet either. The only other thing that is possible for Danny is it is possible he would ride a second EBR Amsoil sponsored bike along side Geoff May. Danny does have a good ties with Erik Buell and always will.
As far as Tommy Hayden?? He has said unless he finds a ride that can compete for wins he would sit out the season. My take on that would be if Bostrom does not come back to Jordans team that Tommy would be a great match next to younger Brother Roger.
I hate to say it, but its ONE BIG MESS!!! Hopefully AMA will figure it out... I think the end of the season was exciting, but it appears, the fan support & venues are shrinking. They cut 2 races in 2011 than 2010. Not good!

so we've got moto2 bikes faster than the CRT's in GP?
awesome....
i still don't know what the hell is going on in GP. i haven't spent a lot of time reading up on it yet, but i still don't understand the rules. can anyone out there explain it to me like i'm a 2 year old? i get the 4 tiers of bikes that can enter, but i don't see why anyone would race as a CRT.... you wouldn't win - unless under some weird circumstances?
i mean, if i read the times right in the 2nd article.... it looks like you'd have a better chance of winning in the GP class with a moto2 bike than a CRT bike? does that make any sense?
i do get that there is still a TON of testing to go on and i'm sure the CRT bikes will eventually be ahead of the moto2 boys (since their bikes are already somewhat developed - compared to CRT) but.... i don't know. i guess i'll just have to wait and see i guess.
i went back and looked at 2010's fastest lap at jerez (no rain like '11) and it's pedrosa's 1.39.7 compared to edwards' 1.43.9 and he was the fastest CRT. i know that it's not a 100% accurate comparison but - that's a solid 4 seconds.
now i know the rules say its a 1000cc limit - but they said the factories could shorten stroke to achieve higher RPMS - so would that still be considered a "production derived" motor? i get the max bore (81mm)/max cyl (4)/ fuel (21 for factory). and then it said that someone could develop their own prototype engine and enter it as a CRT so long as it wasn't a factory that did it - that's clearly not "production derived". and it's not exactly like that'd be a cost effective way to go racing.

hmmm.... anyone actually get the rules yet? i'm all ears.... explain it like i'm a 2 year old

I can't explain it... I hope the fog clears so we all will understand.
