I bought my first bike yesterday and I did not ride it home. I found it on Craigslist locally and had the seller drop it off at my place.
Before then I had never even been on a motorcycle before. As soon as he dropped it off I put it in the garage and headed to the DMV. There I got the title put in my name and got my permit. I've rode it around a couple of the blocks around my house that have very little traffic last night and today but that's all so far. It's way to cold plus my gear hasn't come in yet and call me strange but I don't feel like getting hurt.

...wat?

You don`t need to take a course, go to theory classes and driving lessons, then a theory test and a driving test, takes about a month and a 1000 bucks?!

riiight...

I've been waiting for about 15 years to be able to buy a bike. I grew up riding ATVs and and dirtbikes and my friends showed me how to ride a street bike up and down the block. I had never even sat on a crotch-rocket but it's what I have always dreamed of (as a speed freak). Finally found one up in Byrom, MS but hadn't taken the MSF course yet and figured there was no way I was gonna wreck this dream I'd just bought, so I trailered it the 150 miles back home. I was so paranoid just riding it up the sidewalk to get it covered under the porch until my class was complete. The paranoia calmed after dropping it when I stalled trying to turn from a stop in the parking lot Frame sliders- yes! Funny how scary it was just riding back and forth to work at 50mph and I was so scared of hitting the highway at 70 until I finally did it. I always said "how do those crazy people hit triple digits on two wheels"... now I know! A year later I ride daily, what a thrill every time!

i rode my bike home. had only ridden 2 or 3 times before that, and was only pretty much around the block in town. i had a 180 mile trip home with my cbr f4. lets just say it was a long cold ride in the dark. got home around 11:30 at night in the middle of february. had to stop 4 or 5 times on the way to warm up and stretch! was also pretty sketchy being that it was my first time ever on a sport bike!

had a neighbor drop me off the next day to pick up my old bike...

Afraid us Yanks got it easy. We can get our learner's permits just by taking a written test.

A learner's permit is a limited license. The restrictions vary from state to state but most include things like:
  • No riding before dawn or after dusk (ie no night riding)
  • Only passengers allowed are ones carrying a full motorcycle license
  • Helmet is mandatory

Course is recommended but nt required in most states. And some states like mine offer the courses for free

I traded my crappy bmw 328i convertible for my first bike... going from learning on a honda shadow 750... a 96 gsxr1100 was probably not the best idea... but i couldn't ride it cuz i owed my stepdad money on the bimmer and he's an a**hole... my second bike was a 95 yzf600 i traded my ole 88 4runner for it... rode it home down colorado interstates without a tag for 2 days till i got my paycheck... and my most recent bike is a 95 cbr600f3 (which is why i'm here) and i bought it as a wreck so the bike and i rode from Jacksonville to Daytona Beach in the back of my friend's truck... it's normally just an hour one way, UNLESS you hit rush hour traffic

lucky... Florida's law are VERY weird, under 21 have to have a helmet, over 21 requires personal insurance to ride without a helmet, only need bike insurance if you make payments on the bike... no learners permit for bikes, HAVE TO take a course to get endorsement and HAVE TO have a DL to get it (no bike only licenses)

Haha I got mine from a guy only about 10 miles from me. Rode it right on home. But then again I just took my MSF course..Although I stalled it twice, wasn't used to a 600! haha and yes i got a 600 for my first bike, which some will tell you not to, but I think thats bull**** unless you're made of money and can afford to buy a new bike when you get tired of the 250 after the first few weeks you own it.
