Stupid Question..!
Sorry for what may be a stupid question... ..I am a long time rider, but just purchased my first sportbike ('07 CBR 1000) and full-face helmet (Arai Vector) on Saturday. Can you ride with the visor up on the helmet (I would wear eye protection of course)? If so, up to what speed. If not, can you ride with the visor off -- will it create too much wind inside the helmet? Thanks!

RE: Stupid Question..!
You can ride with it up and you can take it off completely if you like but I don't recommend it. I ride with mine up from time to time but my eyes start tearing up around 50mph. So I just keep it down for the most part and have it cracked open. I also have a tinted visor so i don't have to wear sun glasses.

RE: Stupid Question..!
I agree with the above, do what you want, but in my opinion the visor is better in terms of vision to the side, wind protection and fogging etc. I don't know what the wind or wind noise would be like with the visor completely off, probably annoying.
I have a tinted visor, and if there is any chance that I will be out after dark, I carry a clear visor too.

RE: Stupid Question..!
yeah i have an arai quantum/f and I'm about to buy an arai vector because they fit prettty similarly...paying so much for an arai gets you a lot of things--pretty much lifetime services but they seem to have an incredible airflow system which obviously gets disrupted when you ride with the visor up/off. How do you like the vector?

RE: Stupid Question..!
Obviously it depends on your prefrence. For me it depends on where I am riding. On the highway/interstate I keep the visor down, but in town and at slower speeds I will put it up to cool down a bit. At the faster speeds you may tear up a bit and it can get a little loud with the wind coming in. Again though, it's a matter of prefrence.

RE: Stupid Question..!
my friend's visor blew off of his helmet after riding too fast with it up.
hope that helps
PS. where in jersey are you from?
we have some pretty sick rides every weekend up north a ways, some really good guys around here, new rider friendly rides sometimes too, you may wanna come along from time to time.

RE: Stupid Question..!
i ride with visor up until about 40-50mph, sometimes more.i wear sunglasses most of the time (day) with visor up or down. then at night ride until 30mph with visor up & no glasses. really justdepends how hot it is and if I'm behind any cars that are kicking up dirt in my face. my visor fogged up a lot tonight on my ride home, about 10:00pm. has anyone used that Rain-X anti fog stuff? wondering if that works

RE: Stupid Question..!
Not a stupid question, but it's a really, really, old one. I don't think Jersy has been here for about a year...give or take.
I just can't wear glasses inside a helmet, they always push forward a bit and I have to finger them back in tight and usually I press too hard and then my eyeballs are touching the lenses and then it gets even more super annoying.
+1 tinted visor, down at all speeds above 6.5 mph...give or take
