To me a SQUID is someone who
Doesn't know, or doesn't care, or just wants to impress others when it comes to bikes and safety. In a word - SHOWOFF !!

People who call people squids are no better than Harley riders assuming were some punk kids. Its all a mind set

I always wear jeans when riding. I have never gone in shorts and never will. If I am just going to a friends house and its 85 deg outside I might just wear a tshirt. If I am going riding riding I always have my jacket on. My helmet is on always when riding. Even just going 2 miles away.

i often find myself wondering if Harley forums have these kinds of discussions or cruiser forums... hell even the cops around here wear short sleeve shirts (sometimes the cotton polo kind) i wonder why is it only sport bike riders who have the need to label other riders squids based on their choice of gear (wether to wear it or not) it seems quite silly to me.

Serious answer?

Talking to the Harley guys at the office, they don't seem to expect to go down at any speed requiring gear. So "Squid" isn't in their terminology.

However, I'm fairly sure the argument of Classic vs New Harley rages constantly. And whatever they call each other is prolly equally offensive to them as Squid is to us

How is that showing off? To me it looks like someone who's too broke to afford the sport, more embarrassing than anything else.

I don't think anyone here like to be compared to Harley riders - they have their own mindset, and that's up to them.

If you can afford the toys, you should be able to afford the gear.

As for being a punk kid, well, I was a kid too, once...................
It's amazing how I thought my old Man was "old fashioned" and didn't know anything too.
As I got older I learned that what he had been trying to teach me was true.....

I hope you learn the same lessons, too

This is a tie huh?

I voted squid, but only because I got hit by a car doing such a trip as this... and thankfully had gear and at least jeans on.
