Haha, it's funny, minivans are the vehicle everyone loves to hate. My wife won't be seen near one. I've actually owned....3 or 4. It only matters if you're concerned about appearances I guess. I bought my first one when I was 18, traded a buick skylark for it. I did a lot of traveling between 18-21 and there's nothing like a minivan for interior space and comfort when traveling. I was too cheap for hotels so when I got tired I'd pull over and sleep on the floor. I hauled my Magna to Washington in the back of one of them too. I've got nothing but good to say about them, my first one had almost 400k miles on it when I sold it and I still see it around town. I got about 20mpg in my 88 Caravan with the 3.0L in it.
I must say I like my diesel truck though. I can fit 6 people in it and still get 20-25mpg and have room to haul sh*t in the bed.
