OMG who can help me get rid of vista/install XP?
What is the model number of the computer. Does it have SCSI interface? How far into the Setup screen do you get (do you ever press any keys like F6?) It may require some specialized hard drive driver.

What ever. Took me an hour to just scan a page and have the mac save it on a usb port. Which didnt work. Go Mac........right?
Are you trying to install XP over Vista (Vista already installed)? If so I'm pretty sure you're not going to be able to do that. I can't remember where I read it... IIRC, part of the reason may be Vista Specific hardware on your laptop.
Dont install XP. You will be going backwards I dont care wtf the naysayers (ie. ppl who hate change) say.
You could have done disabled all the shyt that is annoying in Vista in a 1/10 of the time you have already wasted trying to install XP.
But if you insist on installing a soon to be obsolete OS. Make sure you have a good XP install CD (Full, not upgrade), boot from the CD, format the drive, even the recovery partition, would hate for you to hit F12 or wtfe and have to start all over again. The do as others have said n follow the prompts. Its iggits proof, it is windows afterall.
Good Luck!!
Make sure the HDD is not being protected via the BIOS/COMOS settings (rare)

First off, you need to contact Asus and make sure its ok to put XP on your laptop. Since Vista is windows main OS now they can hassle you for having XP installed if you ever ship it in for repair. Not saying that the warrenty is voided but they can say that the OS caused the problem. Or they may not.
I would personally just buy another harddrive and load XP onto it, then keep the vista as a spare. Its a lot harder to go from vista to xp from all the how-to's I've read.
