Hmmm...is that what your agent said? My understanding (I have Progressive) is that it's all about statistical risk and credit scores, rather than displacement alone. Obviously engine size matters, but it's not important by itself compared to the history of payouts made by Progressive for each particular model.
The difference in premiums for an FZR1000 and a 929 could come down to nothing more than the FZR being older, which makes it statistically more expensive to repair or replace than the 929--which was only made for two years and so has fewer 'black facts' (number of thefts, total payouts, etc.) against it.
I'm dead certain it comes down to two things: your credit history, and the statistical likelihood that Progressive will have to make a payout over the life of the bike.

All because the bike went below the 1000cc mark.

I called around and State Farm is way cheaper than anyone else I am paying like $300 a yearand with them it would be $66 a year big difference. I had almost given up hope on getting a new bike but I quoted today my 02 sentra my 91 F2 and an 08 1000rr and it was like $1700 for all a year. I am so happy now and I know that I would never push the limits of a 600rr on street or even track. I am a good consciencious driver and decent in the turns but my last name isn't Hayden lol. So just to say so its understood I know it is just bragging rights and having the muscle there even if it's not used. I love the turns and can still ride them on the 1000 but I am still keeping the 600 for that also. Today I went to my local Honda dealer which is my mechanic on the side also and was looking at the new 600rr they had one of each color next to each other. They said the new 1000rr don't come in til Feb. but I was saying I wanted a new 1000rr but the don't have blue and all my gear is blue and he said I have an 06 1000rr for sale the awesome blue and yellow one with a carbon Yosh exhaust plate relocater integrated tailight solo seat cover and carbon fiber rear fender with 5000 miles on it for $8000 and am thinking about going to get it! Just wanted to share my great day with everyone and Happy Holidays.
