Default insurance!!!!

I ride a 91 F2 that I love but want a new 1000rr but I called for insurance quote with my existing company and for the F2 its $300 a year liability and for the 1000rr it is $209 a month WTF? a bit of a price bump for an experienced rider imo. I guess I'm gonna have to buy another old bike and do something sick to it

My buddy was paying almost 6k a year for his 1000rr. And look what your on and want to go too. Theres obviously going to be a huge price differance. Call up and quote a Dodge Omni then ask for a Corvette...

I've not asked about 1K insurance prices, but full coverage on my new bike isn't too bad. Somethin' like $50 a month with a $250 deductible? My "winter bike" only costs me about $24 a month. They're both 600's. Maybe it's the displacement issue?

Shop around. I have Nationwide for both my vehicles and when I got my 2000 F4 they wanted $850.00 a year full coverage. I went to progressive and i got the same coverage for $550.00 a year.

A 91 600 to a 08 1000 is going to be a huge jump no mater what company you go with.

A lot of insurance companies go by displacement. Some go by displacement alone while others take into account the nature of the bike (super sport, cruiser). Ask your insurance company what they go by. I'm 23, just totalled a car with progressive at fault, no points on my license (cool cop), and my 600rr is 108 per month with progressive. I'd say, get a smaller displacement bike. If you're coming up from a 91 F2, you'll definitely appreciate the power and agility of the 600rr's.

Besides speed,a corvette also cost five times more than a dodge omni.So insurance is going to be more. The price difference in a 600 and a 1000 is about $2,000.00 if that. When an insurance company quotes youclose to theprice of the bike for a years worth of coverage its a F$#king joke. Insurance companies are the devil and a rip off.[:@]

A bike should never be close to the price of a car!

Dairyland...on my F2...$127 for the year liability only.

Added my 2004 600RR to my existing policy...a paltry $110 more for the year.

So, for less than $250 for the year...two bikes..legal for the road.

Dairyland insurance...insuring bikes even back when ALL other companies considered any bike a Hell's Angel, demon machine.

I know there was going to be a price jump but I was just venting a bit but that is too big of a jump. I also understand the displacement is bigger but hell they all do over 150 mph on 2 wheels so the danger factor is the same, but to the guy who pays$6000 a year for insurance OMG I wish I had that kind of money. Also your record has a lot to do with it andI have had nothing EVER on my license and have been a local truck driver for 5 years you figure that would help you, but hellthats just common sense but unfortunately most of the world doesn't use that anymore. It's cool though there is always other options so an older bike with extra money saved on insurance will help me buy more things for the bike or more guns and what not
