I apologize for not being more clear. I would use the spectre/Blackhawks thigh holster as mentioned above, while using my rain gear or pants that have a zipper on over it. It doesn't get super hot here in WA so I'm always double layered. To register, bear arms, protect yourself or not is your choice. Just make sure when you do, a lowside at 5mph doesn't cause your protection to become the opposite.

The pocket idea sounds stupid to me but it could easily fall out and possibly go off
explain how a gun would chamber a round, flip the safety and pull the trigger? I have jumped out of airplanes with both an m4 and a handgun landed hard and have been dragged with no such thing happening. I would think that a shoulder holster would be the safest way to carry while on a bike, it stays with you where ever you go, if you do crash its in a rather protected spot to keep the pistol unscathed, its pointed in a safe direction (not at you) and more importantly you don't have to change your carry position just to ride a bike its always in the right spot.

I would be more concerned with the damage caused by landing on it in a crash. I've bumped things with keys in my pocket that hurt pretty bad, I imagine a pistol could break ribs. I try not to carry anything on me, but stow it in the bike instead. There's no way I could fit a pistol under my riding jacket and have it be comfortable.

I have a galco inside the waist, but it isn't SOB. I carry it on my right side, slightly forward of my right hip (if that makes sense).
