Just wanna ride!!
Just acquired a 1997 cbr600f3. Nice bike when I’m not working on it. Was riding the other day, like really just riding, shifting through gears and then all of a sudden the bike just revs up and slows down to a stop. Will not go at all. Got it home adjusted the tension on clutch cable. Worked and rode fine. Now a few days later. It will not go at all. This is probably stupid to ask. But.... does this mean clutch is just gone?
Ok, you're not driving a scooter - if the clutch is out the engine is meant to be connected to the wheel. There's no "let go of clutch and THEN give it gas".
Either your clutch needs adjusting, or it's stuck. There should be almost no tension on the clutch cable when you're not pulling it.
Mostly the problem is not being able to disengage the clutch (too much cable stretch etc) but if you loosen it up completely and it won't engage, then something is wrong with the physical clutch.
I would check the mechanism - make sure the clutch actuator is moving freely etc. Then maybe you're right - new plates and springs are required.
