Hey everyone my names Dylan and I just got a ‘88 hurricane 600 and was riding great for the passed two days parked it last night went to ride again today and it started right up but when I went to get my helmet inside and came back out it wasn’t running and now will not start? It has gas and the fuel was open all my light come on and when you hit the start button it just clicks
Hey Dylan,
Clicking sound is most often a dead battery. Try giving it a charge or use a known good battery and see if it cranks. If the battery is fresh and fully charged, you'll want to check tightness of the terminals, and confirm starter fuse. If none of that works, try shorting the starter
The probable cause is usually age, or gradual depletion by parasitic charge. Leaving the key on 'run' which will kill it pretty quick (I've done that recently). Freezing will also kill a battery. It's important to note that standing voltage should be 12.1 V. If it's less than 10V you may as well buy a new battery as most lead-acid cells won't ever recover from being badly depleted. Even if you charge a dead battery and it takes a voltage, it'll lose the voltage immediately. If your multimeter shows battery voltage dropping after a charge, it's a dead giveaway
In some cases, a dead battery can be caused by a fried regulator/rectifier, or other electrical problems on the bike. If it gets to that point, feel free to search through similar threads on the forum, or start your own if you'd like help with troubleshooting. Would also recommend a manual
Picked up a tatty 91 1000f last weekend.
engine is good with 37kmiles
Body has the expected crack here and there and underneath it is just very dusty with finger wiping Surface rust in a few places but all in all it looks to be a genuine if not loved bike.
.what do you guys do to your bikes as I notice its a little soft.. are there other model swaps overs with suspensiob or is it more like oil in forks and the like.. thanks

Yep, that's exactly like mine! Looks good, you'll enjoy it. I had to spend a lot of time on my plastics, almost ready for paint. Hopefully you fare better once you start digging into it. I would clean the carbs and adjust the valves before doing anything else.
