Hi,
Humour me, I'm a bit thick sometimes...

On the diagrams, the BLACK/WHITE wires are marked as -(negative). Can someone tell me why they aren't actually marked +ve seeing as how they they are fed from a fuse (via the kill switch).

I probably misunderstood the labelling - appreciate if someone can explain this.

^ On most ignition systems the coils go hot when you turn the ignition switch to the on position. It is the opening and closing of the points (or done electronically) that grounds the coils to complete the circuit. A fuse can be placed on either side of a circuit.

With a grounding kill switch and other (-) kill features, it may be best to fuse the ground side.

You can check it yourself. Check to see if the Y/Bu and Bu/Y go hot when you turn the key to run.

Are you trying to say that the two wires that are coloured BLACK/WHITE are actually not the +ve supply line from the battery?

I just installed my new stick coils (Thanks Sprock), I just copied the pics from Seb then had to re-do as the wire diagram says, doh.


I just wanted to know if it is all right for the wire harness to sit on the timing cover, I don't want it to melt, see pic

Good job Jarvid.

Firstly you will need the covers for the spark plug tubes. There are a number of solutions for this - either buy (as per Sprock's solution) dedicated 'covers' or cut the old seals off the original set-up - as per my solution.

I think both my set ups rest lightly on the rocker cover and there has been no melting of the plastic protector tube or wires.

Yes boots are now on, was testing before cutting up old ht wires.

What is the length of the coils used? The ones I got stick way out and actually won't fit! These ones are ~5 3/4" long. From an '04 1krr

Yes there were two different lengths..........

140mm for the 'long' coils vs 127mm for the 'short' coils.
