Yes, you will still need to keep the diode setup... All the new relay does is slow down the blink rate... I got mine off of eBay.. "variable load flasher relay" any two wire one will work. Your local auto parts store might have one too.

The motorcycle stores also sell a more expensive digitally controlled one too... Not really worth it to me when a $3 one from eBay works just as well

Yes.. Using dummy load resistors will work.. Not regular resistors though... The reason indont like them is because they generate a ton of heat.. So make sure they won't melt your plastics. Also, the flasher I bought was much cheaper and works just as well. Either way your problem will be fixed.

I did this last night, got some $10 turn signals off ebay to. Mine had the black and yellow wires like someone posted earlier in the thread and said it didnt work for them. But i treated the black wire as the ground and everything worked perfect. This was my first time ever soldering anything as well. Great thread because it helped me out alot. Just I now need a relay to slow the blinking down, any way you can post a how to on that??

well..thats easy. On an F4i, just take off your windscreen, and dig between the headlights. Theres a little black box with two wires, thats your stock flasher.. Now get a variable load flasher relay with two leads on it, just hook it up, wire order doesnt matter i dont think.
thats it!

Redz - thanks for the awesome write up. I did mine just as you specified and they work like they came from the factory that way. Spectacular!

Wow, that was easy. Worked like I knew what I was doing. I can follow directions so that was all I did. Presto! Running lights. Thanks Red!

Picked up the diodes to do this today. Got a question though and im not sure if its been answered yet but i didnt see it. Im installing LED flushmounts (front) and short stalks (rear) on my F4i. If I wire the fronts up this way, will I get the super fast flash? Is there any flasher relays that plug into the factory harness? Im not cutting anything factory on this bike. Thanks.

Flashing rate will be the same regardless of this modification. What your looking for is a variable load flasher relay. It basically flashes at the same speed regardless of the load that it is powering. I am using the stock flasher right now because i like it a little quicker than normal.
