warm engine???
I remember reading in motorcycle news (a weekly motorcycle newspaper in England) about an experiment they did on a brand new fireblade (cbr 900) where they thrashed the bike daily without ever giving the engine time to warm up. they did that for a while (can't remember how long, I think a full year and a few thousands miles) then they opened up the engine to see what damage that has done and found that there was no more wear on that engine than a properly used one, in fact it still looked as new (as should be). Some of our members and readers of MCN here in england might recall the article!!

I prefer to wait until 130F then click 1st gear. Low RPMs up to 160F. Then I ease on the power and soon she's up to 178F. At 180+, I let 'er have it.

My mechanic told me that in the old days when Oils where ****... You had to warm up your engine, so it gets the oil up to the right operating temp and to get the oil up top? But nowadays with technology getting better and with better oil(synthic) we don't need to warm up our engines so much? but I still warm up my engine out of habit and as soon as the temp gauge starts to read I take off. I take it easy til it reachs bout 60' then I get a move on......
