Warm up engine First?
I always let mine warm up first.... bike and car. Not always to full operating temp, but usually let it run for 5 minutes or so (10 mins in the winter when it's cold) before taking off, then just take it easy until it reaches normal temp
OP: polls dont work
... they wont until the forums get upgraded to VB.
Anyway, I always throw on my jacket, and back my bike out into the driveway. I start it up and proceed to throw on my gloves and helmet; by the time I have my gear on and everything zipped up, the bike has warmed up to just over 100*. I wont put the thing in gear until the bike hits 100*, and I keep it under 5k rpm until it hits about 160*.

I usually let it run a little bit too. If i do hop on without it warming up, i keep the RPM's very low until the temps come up. when she's cold, the oil is harder to move around causing a tiny amount of strain on the bike. nothing serious but it could cause a problem after 136,100 miles or so.
