Hello, this was my first season and it is sadily over being it was 48 yesterday and really cold I think it's time to put her away, puting her in a heated storage bin is not in option at the moment, if i just change the oil and put a full tank of gass with stabalizer in it and take the battery out will it be ok? Just looking for thoughts - Thanks!

 

Battery Tender and try to get the rear tire off the cold floor. some say to change the antifreeze. Cover her nicely!

 

Will it be left outside all winter? Find a buddy that has a garage.

That's a hard one, I'd have it next to my TV in the living room if I couldn't keep it inside.

Try to get the tires up or at least on wood/rubber surface and move it once a week or so. Change all of the fluids, fill the tank then add stabile, take the battery out and put it on a tender or plan on buying a new one next year for about $100.

 

my 95 F3 was outside all winter, same thing this year.
storage is out of the question ($$), didnt really do anything to protect it. just put the cover on it and thats it. i started it up every 2-3 weeks and all seemed fine. no problems.
started it up for about 15 min, or until it warmed up and turned it off. waited for it to cool off and throw the cover back on. always started with no problems.
no fuel stabilizer, no fluids changed, absolutely nothing.

i was worrying that when they will get the snow plow trucks to clean the parking area they would tip it over or something. to my surprise they well extremely careful around it.

didnt have any flat spots either.


for the chicago weather it did fine. will see how this season will go.

 

I know a lot of people that drive home drunk from a bar and made it home just fine... some of us like to take extra precautions to make sure our bikes are good for next season and not leave it up to luck

but that was what I did.

would i recommend it? prolly not, but the money is low and hope is the only thing i have. and thats the only thing thats free.


also if mine was newer i would baby it too.
