Default sticky throttle

I changed my throttle tube last night once I had everything back together it seems a little sticky on the return...though nothing seems to be binding anywhere.

Any ideas on where to check?

Take it back apart, oil the cable with wd40 so that it has an opportunity to leak down the wires. Inspect the white plastic area and make sure that nothing is binding or sticking out. Look for burrs, anything not smooth. Make sure your cable wires are actually in there groove as they should be. Shoot some wd40 in there as well (inside the housing where the 2 cables connect). Close it back together with your fingers and check for sticking, if it is smooth then put the screws back in it and it should not bind now. If it is not snapping back when you let go then you still have a binding/mechanical problem.

Should the clip on be lubricated? If so, what should I use?

If you have your cables disconnected and the throttle tube turns freely, it should be fine.

I had a similar problem with my F2 when I bought it - but it was due to the old cables being worn and dirty. Bought new cables and installed. they worked fine with the airbox off the bike, but with it on, the return picked up some drag again.

After about 3 removals of the airbox, I finally found that I needed to re-route one of the cables slightly differently and all was better. apparently something was pushing a cable slightly into a position where the cable just wasn't happy moving freely through.

Also make sure that there is some slack in the cables. Without slack they will not be free to return.

+1 on having the cable loose , no tight spots or she'll bind.

I'm pretty sure I got my issue resolved by changing the lubrication, as I now get an audible snap when I let go of the throttle. Thanks to all who offered ideas on my possible issue. Now I just need good enough weather to take the new throttle for a test drive.
