Default fuel gauge problem 2001 f4i

Got a weird problem with my fuel gauge, it wont reset its self after i fill it. But if i un-plug the connector for the display it will work n go into reserve like it should but then again once i fill it wont reset and the display still flashes empty.

Any thoughts?

How long have you waited after filling up to see if the 'low fuel' bars go out? I have this every time I fill up, but after a few minutes riding the bars do eventually go out. Of course you may have a different problem, but give the display a few minutes after filling up to reset itself. Does your display remain on reserve no matter how long you wait? How about if you turn your ignition off then back on again? Do the bars disappear then? Must be frustrating and I don't know enough about electronics to help you any more I'm afraid. Hope you sort it out!

No matter how long i wait it doesnt switch over, went like 3 weeks with it flashing. Gets to be annoying having to reset the clock everytime i fill up and wanna reset the display.

just bought the bike few months ago for a smoking deal n its did it ever since so dont no what happend to cause it. But i do know the previous ower put a new tank on. Just dont no why it wouldnt reset since the low level trips

Tach doesnt work either, only getting 9volts into the plug, fsm says replace the ecm......maybe thats the cause of the display not resetting?

I got this exact same problem. Tact and everything. I posted on ur other thread, but for now there's a temp fix for the fuel gauge but youll sacrifice your clock n trip meter. just pull out the fuse for the clock and itll reset every time the bike is started.

*bump*
Anyone got any remidies for this? I already tried cleaning the cables and it not still working. The tacto goes up and down when turned on but it never moves after that. I would really like my tacto back
