Default RE: Filling up the tank

I try and get every drop I can in the tank. I put the stand down but stay on the bike with it straddled between my legs. Why do I put the stand down you might ask, well one time I made the mistake of thinking I had the stand down when I actually didnt, good job I caught it before it hit the ground! Anyway I put the nozel in just under the lip in the tank and take my time filling it right to the top. I have spoken!

ya you pull the foreskin
Agree! Pull the skin back and don't put the nozzle all the way in the tank b/c some pumps have a meter when the gas reaches the nozzle, it stops pumping.

The fuel gauge is one or two mark shy of full after each fill up.
You gots a fuel gauge? Damn! I'm jealous [:'(] I usually stay on the bike also to keep it level and just tickle the top of the tank with the nozzle. Ya know it's full when it runs out the bottom from the overflow hoses Just gotta make sure and pay attention ... a pair of bodacious tatas walk by and you could have a lap full of gasoline.
looks like somone has been watching too much WE - that stuff can really mess w/your head chief !

In Calif. at least, it is called the bellows. It forms a seal to allow the vapors to return to the underground tank. Pull that back with one hand to finish topping off your tank. Be careful though when putting the nozzle in your tank with the bellows retracted as the system could be faulty and could have gas inside the bellows and hose from the previous customer. When the bellows is retracted, it opens up a valve to allow the vapors/gas to return to the below ground tank. Since our bikes are higher then a cars gas cap we may not have that problem.
