Default Filling up

The honda manual says the fuel capacity is 4.8 gallons, everytime I fill up I can only get about three in the tank and it will be at the top. I will ride it until the reserve light comes on and try putting 4 gallons in but the fuel is at the top around three gallons. Is there something I'm missing? I have only owned this bike about a month so its still new to me. BTW its an '02 F4i.

Thanks
Chris

Once your reserve light comes on you still have about a gallon left. I thing the manual says .9 gallons. That would still only put you at 4 gallons that you know of...Either way I would be happy that it doesnt take much money to fill up the tank. The F4i gets pretty good milage even if you are heavy in the throttle

look at the shape of the tank...there are areas that sit below the fuel pump that the pump can't siphon.

Don't stick the nozzle in the tank like you do a car. Fill visually, raising the nozzle out of the tank as it fills.

Tahoe- What the heck are you talking about now???? The tank CAN be run dry.

My 06 F4i says it has a tank capacity of 18 litres. The reserve light comes on when I still have 6-6.5 litres left in the tank.
The most I have ever put into the tank is 13 litres. It didn't take long for all 4 bars to flash once the reserve

The question that needs to be answered is what is the usable capacity in the tank? Has anyone run theirs dry (stopped on the side of the road, not drained), and if so, how many litres or gallons did it take to fill it completely?

I have a 02 as well and I thought my manual stated under 4 gallons, 3.something the last time I looked it up. I have never gotten any more than 3.5 with all 4 bars flashing.
