Default f3 with f4i gauges - electrical problems

I was out riding today, and just as I pulled into my apartment complex, my gauges went out.

At first it was just the tach and the digital readout. My turn signals still worked at the top of the cluster, and the high beam and neutral indicator all worked. I did a little googling and read to pull the computer. So I did that, and a few seconds later, everything came back and started working. I put the computer back in, and everything continued to work. I went out later for a ride to a friends and everything quit again. I brought it back to discover the entire cluster not working, along with my turn signals, and my running/brake light. Pulled the fuse for the gauges and the plastic was melted, but the actual fuse was still intact, but I replaced it anyways, with no effect.

The facts:
Entire gauge cluster non-functional, except for the high beam indicator. Nothing is even displayed on the screen. Backlight is not working.
Headlight works high and low.
Turn signals not working.
Horn not working.
Running/brake light not working.
Bike turns over and runs and rides fine.

I have aftermarket front and rear turn signals, the F4i gauge cluster, and a R/R from an R6 all wired in, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the wiring.

Anyone have similar problems, or suggestions?

Maybe the fuse was too big for the unit and that's why it was OK, but the rest melted. this means you have to check the wires, because if the fuse was too big, then the next things that burns are the wires. Check the continuity of the wires going to the fuse and from the fuse, also check the fuses for the signals and brake light.
Seems like some water entered somewhere and made a shortcircuit.
Good luck!
