Chain wax

chain cleaner...spray it on...use a toothbrush to lightly get into the tight spots and brush it like your teeth...then wipe it all off...then let it dry, ride around for a bit until chain is nice and warm then spray lube on it...if you're ****...or just spray it on...and then wipe off excess so less fling.

Tahoe I love you. I've been looking for those instructions for ever I swear I've searched on these forums and couldn't find anything on how to clean the chain. I actually thought that you had to take the chain OFF the bike and soak it in karosene or gas or WD40 or something. hah Shows what a noob I am. Unless they cleaned my chain at the 600 mile maintenance I haven't cleaned it since I got the bike and that was 4k+ miles ago. =( I'm going to stop at advance auto tonight on the way home from work and see if they have some chain cleaner. Anything that you recommend? I have been lubing it though with the honda pro white graphite chain lube. And I do not recommend doing it on your driveway with out anything underneath and then over spraying it because it leaves big white stains on the concrete. Dad was mad. haha

well, you can use kerosene or WD40...but mang...everyone has something to say about those...good/bad/ugly, so i just say chain cleaner...PJ1, motorex, belray, whatever!
i've used kerosene...no probls, WD40...no probs...chain cleaner...no probs...
i'm not sure if regular auto store will have chain cleaner stuff though...you're better off with kerosene or WD40...which have pros and cons about whether it eats up the o-rings, etc...blah blah blah...just for either make sure you let it dry and wipe it all off nice and good. then lube the chain, rollers, everything, then hold rag around chain...not too tight, spin wheel and get excess off...
tada!!!!!!! every 500 miles or as needed!
I cant remember what I use, but it worked great. no fling and dried pretty quick. As for cleaning I just sprayed the cleaner on, let it soak then rinsed it off, thats what the can said to do and it cleaned it good enough. Tahoe SC wants to make a whole day just cleaning his chain.....whips the toothbrush out and all
I thought chain wax was a different type of chain lubricant, it sprays in the chain kind of wet and once inside the links hardens somewhat keeping its lubricating properties while not flinging off all over the place. I bought some castrol chain wax, but didn't bother using it cause I need a few hours spare to clean the chain and completely remove all traces of the old lube. any of you guys using this chain wax? Is it any good?
