Default Carb Write-Ups??? HELP!!!

my bike broke down and i traced the problem to the regulator but i figured while i have it all apart i should fix my carb problem. I'm not sure exactly what they need, the guy i bought it from said they needed synched, i think they may need to be adjusted as well.

I'm looking for anyone that knows of any write ups that go through step-by-step on how to complete the adjusting and synching of the carbs? I have the write up for cleaning them which i will be doing as well. Let me know what you guys can, thanks!!!

The Factory Service Manual available here at http://hondatech.info/downloads/Moto/ has all the information you will need for checking your valve gaps, synchronizing your carbs and adjusting your idle screws.

In the F2 Factory Service Manual:

Section 3-4: Maintanence Schedule
Section 3-5: Valve Clearance
Section 3-9: Carburetor Synchronization
Section 6-14: Pilot screw adjustment
Section 6-15: Pilot screw adjustment (High Altitude Adjustment)
Section 16-2: Schematic of where to hook up Tach

You will need for
Adjusting the valve clearance:
[ul][*]Feeler gauge[*]Micrometer[*]Shims
[/ul]Synching the carbs:
(Should check valves first as per maintenance schedule)
[ul][*]Carb synchronizer. Motion Pro has a new non-mercury version for about $99[*]Auxilary fuel tank. (optional but will make your life a lot easier) Motion Pro has one for about $50
[/ul]Adjusting the pilot screws:
(NOTE: pilot screws are factory set, adjust the idle after synching carbs)
[ul][*]Carb adjustment tool (you need one with a D-type head) Motion Pro has one for about $99, but I don't know if it fits. (Alternatively, you can cut slots into the screw heads, to use a flat blade screw driver, but you will burn the crap out of your arm trying to make the adjustments.
[*]Tachometer that measures in 50 RPM increments. I have the Actron CP7677 Automotive TroubleShooter from Amazon or Autozone. The red lead can be inserted into the tachometer socket (Yellow/Green wire, I think) on the ignition control module. NOTE: this unit measures in increments of 10, so make sure you multiply 10 to whatever number shows on the screen[*]Auxilary fuel tank. (optional but will make your life a lot easier) Motion Pro has one for about $50[/ul]
