01 CBR 600 f4i cooling issue?
My CBR is overheating and shutting itself down when it hits between 220 and 230. I cant turn it back over till after it cools down and then it'll let me crank it over again but will shut down again after it heats up again. Normal temp range is 190 - 200 from what Ive been told, so Im guessing its a cooling issue. the Thermostat is good. waiting to get a pressure tester to test the radiator. I dont know how to test the water pump. Those are the only things that I know of that would be affecting it. Had a Mechanic look at it a while ago, he said its shutting down from the ECM, but I would guess its programmed to shut down once its over the operating temp by a certain amount, but I could be wrong. Any info or help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
The bike does not turn off automatically unless it falls over, temp won't do it until the engine seizes up.
Run the bike with the cap off the rad, is water moving? If the thermostat is good, and the radiator is good, the water pump and cooling fans are the only things left. 230* isen't even overheating temp yet, you won't get a warning light on the dash until 250*.

well its shutting itself down either when it idles or when its running but only when its at those temps. If its under those it stays on like its supposed to. Like I said, the fan is at least on when its already shut down but I haven't listened for it when it was on. And if its not an overheating thing when what do you think it would be?
