wrecked!!!!!!
Im pretty sure that all vehicle insurance follows the bike now. If you give someone permission to ride than it still covers them and the bike just as if it were you riding.
There would be no reason to have insurance if they pulled some bull**** like not paying for atleast the bike if someone else was riding it. What about thieves? If someone took it and wrecked it then the insurance wouldnt pay for it if it were like that.

i hate the situation for you man. i have to admit that i never let anyone ride my bike, sometimes i probably come across like an a** but oh well. i never ask to ride anyone else's, it's kind of an unwritten rule with the group i ride with. someone may feel something or have a question and ask to take it for a spin, but we'd never ask to ride someone else's.
you should check into your insurance, i've got a little lower premium because i have "lock out" insurance, meaning that i am the only driver covered.

got everything squared away today. I have State Farm as well, and as long as I gave him permission to ride it's covered. But, Pennsylvania motorcycle insurance doesn't provide medical coverage, so he's gonna have one helluva medical bill. When I filed the claim they told me to take the bike somewhere to get an estimate on the repair, I told them there's no question that it's totalled. They said they would go pick it up and take care of everything thank god. I'm really happy about that, not so happy with my buddy's condition. He broke his left leg in two places, the tibia and fibia, a compound fracture where the bones came through the skin. He broke his left arm and wrist, is covered in road rash, and also busted his right ear drum somehow. The doctor said if his leg don't heal right they may have to amputate...He's having surgery on his wrist in the morning, but he'll never have full movement of his wrist again. I stayed at the hospital with him for like 6 hours today, but he was so full of morphine you couldn't understand a word he said. I feel really bad about this. He was so upset about the bike he was crying and apologizing all day it seemed. As soon as I get some pics of the bike and where he wrecked I'll post them. You guys won't believe he survived when you see the bike. I'll keep you posted. Thanx for all the replies...
i dont mean to be a dic**ead here but for one whatever bills he will incur is his own stupid fault. you dont ride someones bike and twist it up without being near able to handle it . anyone i let ride my bike i make sure that they can pay me immediately for any damage done regardless of insurance covering it . im not going to get points for someone elses stupidity. Sorry about your bike and about your friend but if they arent riding one of their own they arent touching my ride(s)
man sorry to hear about your bike. hope your friend makes it out ok. i had a similar incedent happen to my kawasaki ex500 (starter bike). i let one of my friends ride it in the parkinglot after work cause he had experience on dirt bikes and what not. came flying by me going like 40 and didnt see the speed bump. needless to say he wrecked the bike and got up with only a few spots of road rash. he felt so bad, he told his parents he backed over my bike with his truck. i got a free repair, hindle exhaust and a nice moto gp leather jacket from it. he got a bruised ego and a higher insurance premium. hope every thing turns out for the best for you too!
Hope you friend makes it. I have picked up and scaped up alot of bike Crashes. so i can imagine what you thought when you seen him and your bike. keep yopur head up. at least he has a fighting chance a lot of peopple dont get that.....
