wrecked!!!!!!
man i don't know what to do, i let a buddy ride my bike around the block and he freakin totalled it! he has a compound fracture left leg, broke his left arm, and may have internal injuries. i swear he was only gone for like 5 min. stupid me, i told him no first, and he finally talked me into it. good thing he had my helmet on. it looked like he was going wayyy to fast, ran off the road and hit a big sewer pipe sittin next to the road. No other cars were involved, bike is in about a million pieces. He's lucky he wasn't killed, when you see the bike you'll be amazed he made it. I don't know what to tell the insurance co. I didn't have to fill out a police report. I'm going to see him in the morning. I'm really bummed, I have to have another bike no questions. I'm so depressed, can somebody help me?
sorry to hear that. its always a downer when you hear about a bike going down. I actually let my uncle ride my bike a couple days ago, and as he was pulling back in, he burned himself on the pipe and jumped off, let if fall, and didnt bother to tell me about it. I found the damage a couple days later, but when i called him, he fessed up and he said he would paint my bike, so its all good. In your situation, you said that you didnt have to fill out a report, did anybody else, like your friend? if not you could say you crashed, but then thats points on your record, or if your buddy has money, he can pay, and then there is always the not so legal way to get rid of a bike and file a claim ( not recommended)......bad karma. Other than that, i dont know what to tell you man. I do agree that getting a bike is a must. But as for the one that went down, there is only so many things you can do. Sorry.
but what if he filled out a police report? Will they check that? I haven't talked to him yet. I did run up to the accident from his house where I was waiting. He wrecked literally 1/4 mile from his house. When I got there I was flipping out, I just couldn't believe my eyes, I thought I was going to pass out I was so overwhelmed. But maybe I could say I didn't give him permission to take it, I was in his house and heard it start, walked outside and it was gone. You don't think they'll arrest him do you?

Sorry to hear about your buddy and your bike. At least the bike is replaceable.
I think about my buddy letting me ride his 05 1000RR right after I took the MSF class (first time on a bike) and how dumb that was. Hopefully your friend won't have many long term health issues and will do the right thing and help out with the cost of crashing your bike (added insurance premiums, deductables, new helmet....), I know I wouldn't leave a buddy with any extra costs from my bad luck.

Not sure how all insurance co's work but I've got State Farm and they specifically stated that our insurance follows the bike so no matter who is driving it. A bunch of us use State Farm for many reasons, that being one of them.
yo mang...if someone asks and you say no and they insist, then you know not to let them ride it...ever...
most accidents happen within like 1/2 mile from home.
check your policy, hopefully it covers the bike regardless of who's riding, as mine does.
hope your buddy heals well, great learning experience. do not say that he took it without you knowing, the insurance company may take criminal or civil action against him then.

oh yea mang...he has so much crap to worry about right now so depending on how good of a friend he is...don't approach him about the bike...if he's truly a good friend he'll offer to fix it or make reparations, if he doesn't then he's not a real friend...then you approach his **** for the bling!
