Just wrecked my 929
Tha main thing is you are unhurt Mr Dunev - which is great. Bikes can be fixed or replaced!
A timely reminder folks. Take it easy out there over the Christmas break. We all want to be here (Mayan Apocalypse depending) in 2013 and would like you here too.
Cheers, SB

Okay so maybe wrecked isn't the right word for it. Lets just say we had a "painful incident" on the road that kinda SUCKED!!
THIS POST WILL BE LONG, SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR PHOTOS SKIP DOWN TO THE BOTTOM.
First off I am fairly new to riding. I learned to ride a few years ago on an old Thruxton 900. At the time I drove a 50cc scooter to and from work everyday. I stopped riding about 2 years ago, and 4 months ago decided to get back on a bike.
2 months or so ago, my buddy told me he was selling his '01 929RR Erion edition cheap since he just wrecked his R1, and that I could make payments to him. I instantly said YES and so the story begins.
I had to wake up this morning at 0500 to get to work for a LONG day, I work in the shipping department of a music merchandise company, and I needed to get over 500 orders out today to make it in time for the holidays. I had to pick my buddy up who sold me the bike, and it was my 2nd time riding with a passenger. He weighs about 180+ and the first passenger I had on the bike was my gf 105+. Soooo a bit of a difference!
As we were getting off the 5 freeway to get to downtown, LA, we took a side street to avoid the major congestion that is always there. We were coming around a turn about a mile from work, and I gave it a little extra throttle before heading up a hill (which I had done countless times before) but with the extra weight on the back, we instantly pulled into a power wheelie, and the whole bike flipped. My buddy ended up cradling me since he was behind me and we slid about 30ft, and the bike went about 60. These numbers might be off, but that's what it seemed like. I remember the whole thing pretty well, and as soon as it happened all I kept asking my buddy was "are you ok?!?" He had to tell me to shut up and ask him after we were done sliding down the road.
There were a few cars behind us, and one of them asked if we were hurt, "which we replied 'no'" and they all kept driving. We picked up the bike, moved it off the road and had a cigarette. He ended up with a 3" circle of road rash on his right knee, and s few cuts on his fingers. I am pretty sure I have a slight tear in my intercostal, as it is hard to breath, move etc. But when I apply pressure to my ribs it doesn't hurt at all. I also some how managed to hit something with my lower calf, right above the Achilles Tendant. It is hard to walk, lift or point my toes, and it's all swollen.
I was luckily wearing 2 sweathshirts, a leather jacket, and a pair of Draggin jeans (they are AWESOME). My buddy was wearing normal jeans and the asphalt SHREDDEM them up. Something also tore open the top of my leather boots, but no clue how it happened.
Sorry it took so long, but thats the story. Here are some pics.
Part of the windshield broke off, as did the mirror. The brake fluid casing snapped at the seam, but is still hanging on. The throttle won't return to normal position, from the tip of the handlebar pressing into it.
Here is a quick snap of the exhaust

My poor fairings
Also there is a TINY oil leak at the bottom of the oil gasket. It might just be a loose screw, but after a 8hrs there was a silver dollar sized spot of oil beneath the bike.

Frame slider was torn off, and bent the bolt COMPLETELY

Had to remove the fairing to find the oil leak. It doesn't leak so much, as it's wet to the touch beneath one of the bolts.

I don't have a pic, but also the rim had curb rash, but the brakes were untouched. Which was AWESOME!
Alignment is fine, as well which is lucky.
What happened sucked, but I am glad that we were both OK, and that the bike sustained minimal damage. It was a lesson learned, and I will be much more careful next time, and put in much more riding time before taking a passenger. I ordered a new Dainese jacket and a RF1100 helmet this weekend, but had to cancel the orders, so I can fix the bike.
Hope everyone has a great Holiday and rides safe!

Ouch. Sounds like it could've been worse but thankfully wasn't. I've known of a few riders that were initially ok after a lowside but were hit by cars afterward. Glad that didn't happen to you guys. Having had torn achilles, I know that pain. If you seriously think that's what's happened, you need to have it examined asap. The quicker the treatment, the less time in recovery.
The bike may look a little battle-scared but you should be able to having it going again pretty easily.
Hang in there. Get plenty of rest & see someone about that leg.
Happy Holidays to you as well.

I think i just bruised/sprained my Achilles. It's the muscle beneath my ribcage that I am worried might have a slight tear. I am going to go see a doctor today just to make sure there is nothing serious hurt. This morning the pain has increased 500%. It feels a little like someone is jamming a knife between my ribs everytime I move. But when I push on my ribs i don't feel anything, so I know it must be underneath.
Fingers crossed that everything is ok!!!
