That's a good read, please ignore previous comment, most of it seems to be answered there

Default RE: Suspension settings

This is what I do. When I'm riding to work and school I have the little silver can thing on the side set to a little softer than stock and the little black turny thing on the other side more inside the bike softer too. When I go ride on some twisty roads I turn both of those 1/8 turn harder than stock settings any more than that and I really start to hurt inside when I hit even the smallest bump. I have never messed with the front so I'm still at 3lines and in the middle for the turning flat head screwdriver thing. I do not have a C spanner wrench so my rear spring thing is still set at the stock settings which I think I will put at 7 when I get one. I really don't know why I make it harder I'm just under the impression that a stiffer suspension is better for twisty roads and a softer is better for daily driving because its a smoother ride.

Well you are almost on to something. Making the suspension softer for more comfort during a commute it just fine. It's one of the benefits of an easily adjustable suspension. I don't do it because I am lazy and I like my bike to handle the same all the time.

You want the damping set harder for twisties because you are placing more load on the suspension and you DO NOT want it to bottom out. This is also one of the reasons you set the preload for your weight.

yea +1 on that. I tend to forget when I change the settings, So I Don't touch it too much, but I have noticed like last weekend when I took it out to the twesties that the compression was a little too stiff, I think because it has been getting colder around here, so I will probably lighten up on the compression on the front.
