side stand
I dunno about you guys, but in my local riding group and our forum, people cut/weld sidestands all the time. So I see it a lot and it's never an issue. And by 'see' it, I mean people do it and point it out because otherwise you would never know. It's cut, shortened, welded properly, ground smooth and painted so well you could never tell by looking.
We're talking about sidestands here. People cut entire tops off cars, take out a section, and weld it back in place. It's not magic, it's craftsmanship.

roofs don't hold your vehicle up dave. it's not that it's impossible, but that's the only piece supporting your bike. if it's not done correctly (as you've stated) you risk dropping the bike, and damaging parts. all because you didn't fix that simple little kick stand.
Maybe you should have a second sidestand fitted to the opposite side of the bike so if it leans too far to the right, you're covered! ... LMAO!
If you have a welder and feel confident that you can cut and weld the thing correctly, then weld it.
If you don't or can't, then just spend the $20 or $30 and get a new one that's right for your bike.
