That side stand seriously doesn't look right. You're talking wind, I'm thinking if a mosquito sits on the bike....it tip over. I'm not sure about the welding...just seems more work than just simply hopping on www.stuntlife.com or www.craigslist.org or www.ebay.com and just pick up a stand for the bike...

+1. just get another one, don't compromise the structural integrity of that stand.

that doesn't sound like a good idea either. washers could fail and ****. seriously just buy a new one.

I've heard of ppl pinching pennies...but you're talking about pinching pennies on the stand that holds up your bike? Is it seriously worth the risk of the weld or washer or whatever other mod failing and the bike falling over on it's side??? You guys never fail to amaze me...

If you're worried about welds failing, stay out of cars, planes, trains, boats...

hey man there is a easy fix to this... remove the stand... cut off the bottom flat part of the stand.... remove whatever height you want from the BOTTOM and then reweld the flat part on... that way your not sacrificing the integrity of the stand.... bc your taking a section off the bottom and there isnt any pressure going to be applied to the weld if you just weld the flat part back on

Yea there's really not that much pressure in that kind of a weld. The bike is fairly upright, it's in a constant position, and if you cut it near the foot... even if it busted, you're not really losing any length or anything that would likely cause a drop or anything...

I wouldn't even think twice about cutting and welding if I had the equipment or a friend...
