Default RPM's Dropping to zero randomly, High Rpm's & Low Rpm's

Just recently my 01 600 f4i has been acting up.. around twenty minutes into a ride i will be cruising in 5th or 6th and all of a sudden the Rpms drop to zero, so i get on the clutch and rev it back once or twice and it will gennerally get going again. it has shut off once while going down the freeway. also sometimes coming to a slow turn or stop the rpms just drop and she shuts off. Im in much need of some help because i absolutely love riding..... Im thinking possibly electrical like the kill switch is making contact, possibly a battery issue but i havnt had time to start probing yet. Please send me in the right direction..

Does it start to stutter when it die's?
How is it running otherwise?
Tune up on it recently?

When riding down the road it just seems to drop off instantly and shut off but the speedometer stays running and so do the lights.
It has been running just fine otherwise.
and i just changed the oil and radiator fluid two days ago but the problem started about four days ago.

When the bike is just sitting there. Try wiggling the shut off switch and seeing if it turns off. Maybe there is a loose connection.

I would check to see if the Fuel pressure regulator has any wet dampness inside the vacuum hose that connects to it.

Check out if any electrical or anything is hanging. No FI lights I am guessing too huh?

Have you checked your battery connections? I know my bike was doing this a little while ago. Everytime I hit a big bump the bike would die for a second and then start right back up. Ended up just being a loose battery connection. Good luck.

I had the same issue, but the FI light came on everytime it happened. It turned out to be a bad connection with the battery terminals. Try cleaning the terminals, that fixed my problem.
