Dumb question that I can't find an answer for... I have a 2001 F4i and put in a K&N air filter over the winter. I had the valve clearance checked out a few weeks ago and within tolerance. I noticed now that the engine feels a bit rougher and louder than I last remember. I can hear the engine ticking louder. There are no issues with power. I don't have a power commander. Because of the increase air flow, is this noise due to it?

Not sure but very well could be. I bought a 02 CBR in December and it had been sitting for a couple months so I changed the gas, rode in on a few short trips and it ran fine. Then during my process of maintainence and basic clean up I had the bright idea to cut off the mesh screen on the stock air filter (since the air filter was brand new) to increase the air flow, then the bike ran like crap. Since I didn't have a PCIII to increase the fuel I bought a used X nitro fuel commander from ebay and boosted up the fuel and it runs fine now. Cheap fix for me.
